Omega Goliath
I do not usually buy pocket watches but when I came across this rare vintage Omega Goliath I could not resist. They are known as Goliath’s and rightly so the size they start at are 70mm in diameter not including the onion winding crown.
Sporting lovely Arabic numerals and an enamel dial including a second hand sub dial with stunning blue steel hands. The inner bezel is made of copper it supports the glass crystal. This model comes nickel cased, with an inner and outer case. The inner case has a serial number as does the caliber, that match to the Omega serial number calendar. Circa 1905. It feels so very robust, large and substantial in the hand.
You really start to appreciate the how substantial the Omega Goliath really is. With a massive 8 day power reserve and a giant winding spring. They are numerous Goliath pocket watches from this period but very few with Omega on the dial.
Here is a size comparison to a vintage Omega Dynamic mk1. They were not really made for the pocket, but they would have originally come with there own box to use like a travel clock. Some later models even have a bulb at 12 o’clock with wires to a battery pack. Probably cutting edge back in the day!
