Seiko 6106-5470 DX Day/Date 23 Jewel Automatic, from September 1974, another square case design, which I really like. This has the day/date complication, it does not manually wind, it has a rotor that make it an automatic, kinetic movement turns the rotor and the rotor wind up the watch. It starts up pretty much as soon as you pick it up. I bought this from my local watch keeper, so it is in fairly good mechanical shape.
Incorporating the 6106 23 Jewel Automatic movement, quickset day/date feature by pushing in the crown in 2 stages, the second hand hacks for accurate time setting. A lot of watch for the money! Seiko high quality, reliability and longevity make them a great vintage choice. It has a very lovely almost iridescent blue face, with typical indices from a 1970’s TV style watch, I also very much like the black day wheel and the white date wheel, these details really make the interesting and easy to read.
When I purchased the watch, it had a brand new original Seiko hardlex crystal fitted, there is a horizontal ridge across the face of the watch case design that the crystal follows (quite hard to capture even in macro). It has a quick date set by pushing in the crown , and the is has a hacking facility. Seiko is another brand that offer great quality at still very affordable prices. The bracelet is not original to the watch but it does have the original signed clasp.
