Certina 25-45 Automatic

Certina 25-45 Automatic

In 1951  the Certina 25-45 Automatic was launched, it was Certina’s first in-house self-winding movement. Two years later they released the 28-45 was released in 1953 it was the very same construction and the characteristics were identical to the previous movement, except that the diameter was 3mm bigger. The first number in the movement designation stands for the diameter in millimetres. And Certina carried on that tradition into the DS range.

The crown sit recessed very neatly into the side of the case. There are no second marker  on the dial and this is how this watch left the factory. The Certina inverted C logo on the dial and the crown was introduced in 1954, so this dates my watch between 1954-60. You can clearly see in the macro photos how sharp and crisp the edges and profiles are, it is clear that the watch case has never been polished. I am very happy to add a Certina 25-45 Automatic to my ever increasing collection.
